Melbourne Cup Carnival 2011 - Derby Day

Here is my take of the Melbourne Cup Carnival, Derby Day

I haven't been to the races before so I was eager to see what's all the fuss is about.
A big thanks to Fruche for helping me to get access to the event!

Lovelies may I introduce you to The Birdcage
Tucked away from the racecourse, the Birdcage features lavish marquees by Fruche, Lavazza, Myer and Swisse to name a few. The marquees are tres chic, each with their own different look, guests and celebrities
Its such a pretty area so I'm going to give you a look into the Birdcage, soak it all in now Lovelies.

Say hello to the Fruche Marquee. Take a look below, the marquee is decked out in florals and bright candy coloured lollies and food. The marquee has projected race coverage, a DJ and FAB catering. Its such a posh and stylish way to view the races in style.
Fruche knows how to make a marquee looks BAM amazing.

The face of Fruche J Alexander (Miss J) was at the marquee, in a fabulous suit and bow tie look. In September J chose me as the Fruche Melbourne Fashion Week Blogger so it was great to finally meet him!

Style Diary - Back to Black

Back home from Sydney. I had to bring home something pretty.

I picked up this Dion Lee Rope Jacquard Print Jacket, adding to my collection of Aussie Designer pieces. There is something about Dion Lee's silhouettes, and with his jackets in particular I'm in love love love with them. The jacket features a jacquard rope weave with white screen printed rope print on top. Very dynamic creating a 'three dimensional illusion'. I could talk about this jacket for days....

I love love love how the front is cut longer than the back; classic Dion Lee. There is even an 'M' on the back of the jacket. A sign no?

For this look I wanted to go all black and white. Working with textures I paired the Jacket with a sheer/loose singlet and my ruched leggings. I added my Jeffery Campbell Switchblades and an anchor necklace to finish the look. I want to exaggerate the jacket's cut by wearing the leggings, and the heels balance the look at the bottom.

This is also my entry look for Nuffnang's SJP 'I Don't Know How She Does It' Look entry. I chose this look because it's a total statement look, from the jacket to the shoes. No matter how busy life is, wearing fun and unique clothes helps me get through the day and makes me feel BAM amazing! Why not show SJP some great Aussie Talent!

Jimmy Choo
Penny Loafers

FACT: It's hard to find stylish affordable menswear.
Q. Have I found a MAJOR hole in the market?
A.Yes.

These glitter loafers by Jimmy Choo are BAM amazing! Black glitter gives enough glitz and glam without being too seasonal. Loafers are so smart-chic. Add them with trousers for a statement or shorts shorts to be cute.
I'm going to put these on my 'when I'm successful and rich' shopping list.

The dilemmas of a guy trying to push the envelope...

Gisele Bundchen - Vogue UK December 2011

Supermodel Gisele Bundchen is rocking metallics on the December Issue of Vogue UK, shot by Mario Testino.

I love love love me some Gisele, she's just got that goddess complex which is just BAM amazing.
In her spread titled 'She's Electric' Bundchen is in high concentrated colour looks by Mugler, McQMichael KorsMarniStella McCartneyRoksanda Ilincic and Diane von Furstenburg. I love how the spread features a combination of sportswear, womens ready to wear and FAB jewellery.

From no news to BAM

MARTAN Store is BACK online. Now with a difference.
The Store is now a POP-UP Store, meaning that the store will randomly POP-UP with a bunch of stock and then BAM its gone. The Store is now restocked with Antique Turquoise Rings.
Hurry before they're all gone!

Moving on to NEWS! I'm off tomorrow to Sydney for the Live Finale of Australia's Next Top Model, live from the Sydney Opera House. I won some tickets and I'm off.
Anyone who reads my blog knows that I'm (slightly) obsessed with Top Model shows so I cannot wait to be apart of the Finale on Tuesday!

But wait. There's more..!
So back in September I won the Fruche Melbourne Fashion Week Blogger Comp. Now Fruche wants me to go to Melbourne's Spring Racing Carnival
This should be exciting, though I've never been before so I'm eager to see what all this racing is about.

The Moment. That's what life's about.
In a second things can change, paths made and broken.
Living in this moment, right now is the way.

Looks of the Week - 17-23rd October 2011

> Amanda Seyfried - MY LOOK OF THE WEEK. At the premiere of her new flick 'In Time', Seyfried wore this Prabal Gurung Spring 2012 mini-dress. Love love loving the colour of the floral print, chic and edgy.

Catherine Zeta Jones
 - Timeless in Elie Saab Couture, Zeta Jones attended the 'A Fine Romance' Benefit in this FAB spring 2010 gown.

Evan Rachel Wood - In a black Alessandra Rich 2011 gown, Wood was at 'Elle's Women in Hollywood Tribute'. Love love loving the sheer and black panels of the dress, sexy drama.

Freida Pinto - FAB in a Ralph Lauren Jumpsuit, Pinto was in London for the premiere of her film 'Trishna'. The texture of the jumpsuit is BAM amazing.

Zoe Saldana - At the 2011 Scream Awards Saldana is amazing in J Mendel. The minidress is chic, with its fold and drape. Love.

Wishlist - Unif Hellraisers

Meet my NEW loafers.

These Unif Hellraisers are tres Amazing. Black lambskin loafer covered with silver spiked studs. Need I say more? The loafer is really comfy, though I need to change my walk. I keep on grazing my ankle! The pain for style. A bit of a splurge but all you need is one pair of studded leather loafers...

I got my pair directly from Unif but you can also grab them from Solestruck. They come in black and pink, and they are unisex (not that that really matters with me). If you want a pair I'd get in quick! Pre-orders come and go, sizes are limited so get cracking!

I love love love my pair, they fit true to size. And BAM they're intense. Not for the faint hearted or someone who bruises easily at the ankle. FYI..

Ticked off my wishlist! Though my obsession for shoes could make an entire list....hmm

Style Diary - Lazy Vintage

Vintage is friend

My wardrobe (well I don't cupboards) so lets just say my clothing archive is diverse. Labels, Vintage, Hand-me-downs, Oversized, Black... I buy anything that catches my eye, regardless of where it comes from. Vintage is something I love love love. I probably sound like a broken record...

Affordable, Unique and full of character, I find that a good vintage piece works well because its something that no one can really get the same piece as you. I got this slouchy oversized grey Cardigan from a vintage market. It was a steal for $10. Generous sleeves, pockets and suede shoulders and pockets. Its one of those pieces that has that classic detail.

I wear this cardigan when I'm in a chill mood, avoiding black believe it or not.

For this look I wanted to go bright, with a deep white tee and acid demin short shorts which I made from a pair of thrifted jeansAccessorising I've got my ASOS marble clutch, geek glasses, MARTAN Turquoise Ring and my leather sandals I got from Venice

ANTM - Cycle 17 Coco Rocha

Lisa & Dominique (Credit: The CW)

Coco Rocha + Charity + Chinese Andre + a bit of drama

The models were counting their blessings coming back from panel with no elimination. There was a sense of calm and happiness.. weird for Top Model no?

For this week's challenge the Models met up with Nigel for a Charity Football game. Split into teams, the models competed with NFL stars raising money for the player's chosen charities. Whilst playing the game, photo breaks occurred for the models to work their angles! Kayla won the photo challenge, winning jewellery and a spot of Tyra's TypeF Website

L: Allison & Kayla, R: Bre & Alexandria (Credit: The CW)

Tres Amazing superdupermodel Coco Rocha was the guest judge and model for the photoshoot. The theme for the shoot was 'Bitchfight' with the models in groups of two posing with Rocha. Dominique, Bianca, Lisa and Shannon did well with fighting and posing, while the other girls did too much bitch and not enough model. Coco poses were BAM amazing, A, E, I, O, U! Damn she puts the models to shame.

At panel Dominique got a well deserved First Call Out, leaving Alexandria and Bre in the bottom two. Alexandria is losing her edge and Bre is yet to prove that she has one. Finally it was Bre that was sent home.

It was a fun episode. Though Coco stole the episode. Shows how far the models still have to really be a Top Model.
