MBFWA 2012 - Dylan Cooper

Project Runway 2011 Winner
Dylan Cooper showcased his debut Fashion Week Collection at The Box on the first day of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Picking up from where we last saw him on the show, he previously presented a winning runway collection of suits, brights and bold prints
Fast forward to MBFWA 2012, Cooper does not disappoint.

His new Collection is definitely more ready to wear but still keeping to his strong and exotic aesthetic. Love love loving his Prints and Bright Colour Palette, entering The Box the prints/colours bring life to the room, blocked Bright Pinks and Purples help to break up the prints, creating solid shapes.
My favourite look from the collection was this Long Sleeve Minidress (shot below) the print reminds me of stained glass windows in a kaleidoscopic a FAB piece for sure, Red Carpet Ready!

MBFWA 2012 - Day 1

Day 1 of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia - Learning the Tricks of the Trade

The weather kept itself in check, so I took the opportunity to soak up some of Sydney walking to Circular Quay from my hotel. I spent my day with my close friend and FAB Blogger Connie, as well as hanging out with new friends like Jess (Jess loves Fred), Yenny (Studded Hearts), Darren (Boy Moments), Aprila (Aprila Love), Anne (Froth and Cloth), Jess (Jysla Kay) and meeting many more along the way.

I managed to attend a few shows/events. From a Harper's Bazaar Suzie Stylebubble gathering (a sneaky appearance) to Dylan Cooper's Box Show and Miss Unkon Theatre Show. Check out my Dylan Cooper post coming soon! I love love love meeting and having fun with all these FAB fashion enthusiasts. Taking photos, sharing one too many macaroons and chatting aimlessly whilst waiting in lines.

For my Look today I wanted to go for a boxy top silhouette. Connie took photos of my with Circular Quay as the backdrop. I also took some snaps of Connie's Topshop Heels (shoe envy much?) and our many a macaroons.

Puma by Hussein Chalayan Collection Launch

A night of Macaroons, Fashion.. did I mention Macaroons?

On Thursday Night I was invited to attend the Launch Party of the Puma by Hussein Chalayan Collection at Marais. Tucked upstairs inside Melbourne's chic Royal Arcade, Marais is a Luxury Designer Boutique retailing labels like Givenchy, Lanvin and now Puma by Hussein Chalayan.

Chalayan's Collection joins Puma's Black Label, which features exclusive collaborations combining Puma's famous Sports Fashion Aesthetic with contemporary Designers like Alexander McQueen and Mihara Yasuhiro.

Guests were able to view and purchase the collection whilst enjoying Sweet Cocktails inspired by Puma and Chalayan, Fresh Music, Turkish Catering by Lezzet and Macaroon Galore! These black macaroons were FAB, each had a little silver sparkle dusting on them as well as a yummy berry center! (remembering it all right now.. I wouldn't mind one now..) The Chalayan's collection is definitely on the 'sports couture' trend. All of the pieces are practical and fun with smart details like mesh, colour and prints. I had my eye on this Mens Spray jacket that had a Grey, White and Black print (picture below

Style Diary - Mint Condition

It's getting cold in Melbourne.

This week Winter has made its entrance known in Melbourne. With Rain, Wind and the Sheer Cold Temperatures, it is time to pack away the thin and light and opt for layers.
For me Winter means that I can bring out all of my FAB Shirts! I love love love a good long sleeve shirt. It's a Classic Wardrobe Staple either plain, printed or accessorized its a great canvas silhouette for a winter look.

I seem to be cheating on Black with Brights for Winter. Not saying that I'm leaving them alone completely but I'm warming up to colours and things that add some POP of a look. Cue my new ASOS Mint Oxford Shirt! The shirt has colour blend of mint and white and it if very fitted (I normally don't opt for fitted tops) For this look I paired the shirt with a pair of skinny black trousers rolled at the ankle, my MARTAN Agate Collar, A-Wang Diego and my New Gold Unif Hellraisers (Note how the camera picks up all of that golden goodness!)

MARTAN Main 2.0 + Dion Lee Warehouse Sale + Emerging Melbourne + Vogue Homme Japan

One more week then I'm off to Sydney for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia. I'm still in the process of finalizing some details and am yet to pack (that'll take me a while) but nevertheless I cannot wait! I've got my fingers crossed that the weather will turn out fine, I've planned some fun looks so I hope the sun is out and the rain is well in Melbourne. Be sure to watch this space. I'll be on post overload with coverage and tweeting on the MARTANMain Twitter.

I ventured out of the Bedroom and onto the Streets for my Style Diary Shoots. Hopefully I can keep it up, and learn to be comfortable getting shot in public. I'm excited to take shots in my favourite parts of Melbourne. So stay tuned for of MARTAN in Melbourne, heck you might even see me on the streets trying to pose and not laugh!

Focused on trying to balance last week, with full time work I tried to salvage a Social/Melbourne life. On my day off I managed to go to the Dion Lee Warehouse Sale. Its the first time they've had a sale in Melbourne so I was eager to snap up a bargain and expand my small Dion Lee collection. I also went to the Emerging Melbourne event hosted by Fjorde Magazine in Melbourne Central. It was a fun night with 'semi healthy' Cute Cupcakes, Fashion and Friends.

In the quest to be understood and taken seriously we often wish to be older.
Though once we reach that stage of Adulthood and free choice, sometimes the responsibility is overwhelming.
It's that classic case of we want what we can't have.
Last week I met a group of girls which reminded me of youth.
Being young, carefree, living life and doing things for the sake of happiness.
It made me have hope for the youth in a world of technology, mass markets and social networks, but also gave me some perspective and the notion 'to be young'.
Live Life, focus on the Fun and Happiness.

Style Diary - Graffiti POP

MARTAN is Style Diary-ing in Public!

SidebarNow you may be unaware but my usual Style Diary posts are composed in my bedroom, with the help of a Tripod, Shooting Cable and a handy White Bedsheet. Now take a look at these shots taken out and about around Melbourne. I may not be used to having my photo taken. Even more when people are walking straight past me. But I must say I'm very happy with these shots so I hope you enjoy!

When it comes to a coloured print, I tend to match it with an interesting black silhouette helps me showcase the print and make it POP. You may have seen these H&M Leggings from my previous Style Diary entries, I love love love this print. When I like a piece I tend to keep hold of it and wear endlessly (different looks of course) For this look I was on one of the many side streets of Brunswick which are covered in Bright Graffiti, a great backdrop for my entry. Keeping some shape to the look I wore a box cut top, crop jacket with exaggerated shoulders and accessorised with my FAB Sass and Bide necklace and my Alexander Wang Diego. When wearing leggings I tend to wear wedges or some sort of boot. For some reason I feel weird wear flat shoes with them...
